Dig Sites

Once you’re trained in Archaeology skill at a trainer, you’ll be able to see dig sites on your big map. These dig sites look like little shovels on the map and once you get into them, they look like red circled areas. There are 4 of these dig sites per continent, but you can’t see them all when you first start out. They are scaled to the player’s level, so a level 30 character can’t see the dig sites in Outland and Northrend. However, since they are non-competitive, you won’t have to worry about someone else finding them first.

Surveying for Fragments

When you’re trained in Archaeology,  you will also get the survey skill, which can only be used when in a dig site. By clicking on your Survey skill, a survey tool will point you in the direction of a fragment. This tool will show you how close you are to a fragment by indicating red when you are still far away, yellow when you are getting closer, or green when you are very close. You will need to collect these fragment in order to start and complete a Research Project, which once completed, you’ll be rewarded for all of the hard work of surveying!

Artifacts

After collecting the fragments, you’ll use them to make Artifacts. Depending on what Artifact you’re making, you will need between 25 to 150 pieces Fragments to create one. Once you have collected whatever you need, just click the “Solve” button to complete making the Artifact.

Other than those Fragments that you loot, you’ll also loot items like Troll Tablets and Highborne Scrolls, which you’ll need to complete some Artifacts. However,  they won’t work for all Artifacts.

In conclusion, Cataclysm Secrets has kept its all promises. I absolutely love it!

What makes the archaeology leveling system so great is that after every successful study, the character moves further along the Path of Titans. Each Titan has its own path and special glyphs as reward. You can modify you character into something special with each of these glyphs. For example, your character may have faster healing times. Once you have completed each path, you can choose to complete as many other paths as you wish- there are neither path limits! Nor level limits! Even those level characters that have been maxed out may continue to research, to hunt for artefacts, and to progress infinitely.

The cost of getting into archaeology leveling and keeping it up is very low and easy on your inventory because there are no reagents or materials to use at all. And since everything is done through gathering and study, there also is no level grinding at all.

There is also no need to worry about overcrowding while you’re into leveling archaeology, because Blizzard has expanded maps to help make it more manageable. Ganking will also be impossible as everything you have is kept in your artefact journal and not your backpack. So, you not only needn’t be concerned about backpack space but also needn’t worry about any drop for nobody to steal from you!

Since there is no need for grinding, no worries about players’ ganking and no level limit, no wonder it has attracted so many players to World of Warcraft Archaeology.

There are already quite a number of wow archaeology guides on the market. So, you may ask yourself, which one is the best archaeology guide wow?

You may even ask why do you need a guide when you could just figure out on your own when start playing?
